How to play
You start with a word. Climb by playing a new word that follows from the last one, and keep the ladder going as long as you can. A word that doesn’t fit costs you a life; run out of lives and the run ends. The taller the ladder, the bigger the score.
There are four modes:

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign‑up, no login, no email, and no password. The game quietly creates an anonymous profile for you the first time you play so your scores can appear on the leaderboards.
How do I change my display name?
Open Settings and edit your name. It can be 3–16 characters. Your name is paired with a random 4‑digit tag (like Owl#3238) so that players with the same name stay distinct.
Where do my scores go?
Completed runs are sent to the game’s leaderboards. Your name, tag, score, and ladder length are visible to other players there. If you’re offline, runs are saved on your device and sent the next time you’re connected.
What are Lexemes? Can I buy them?
Lexemes are a soft currency you earn by playing Arcade and Roguelite runs, and spend on upgrades in the Shop. They cannot be purchased. LetterLadder has no in‑app purchases and does not accept real money.
What’s the ad about?
When a run ends, you may be offered the chance to watch a short rewarded video ad to revive and keep climbing. Watching it is entirely optional — you can always decline and end the run. Runs revived with an ad are marked as such on the leaderboards. Ads are the only way the game is supported.
How do I report an offensive display name?
Email [email protected] with the offending name and tag (e.g. Name#1234) and where you saw it. Offensive names are removed and repeat offenders are blocked from the leaderboards.
How do I reset my progress or delete my data?
Deleting the app from your device removes everything stored locally, including your profile and settings.
To also delete the data associated with your anonymous profile on the leaderboards (your name, scores, and run history), email [email protected] from any address with your name and tag (e.g. Owl#3238) and ask for deletion. Please send the request before you delete the app — your tag is the only way to find your data, and once the app is gone you may not be able to look it up. See the Privacy Policy for details.
I lost my progress after reinstalling.
Progress is stored on your device and tied to an anonymous profile that lives in your device’s keychain. Deleting the app can end that profile permanently. There is currently no cross‑device sync or account recovery — sorry. If something went wrong that doesn’t sound like this, email me and I’ll take a look.
The game requires no permissions, right?
Correct. LetterLadder does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or notifications.
